Whatever the reason you’re feeling lonely, it’s time to pull those nasty weeds of ‘woe is me’ from overtaking your life. Instead, it’s time to cultivate our relationships and it all starts with God.

If we have a strong bond with God, it will trickle into our human relationships. We’ll learn how to be content, love one another, and serve well with our gifts and abilities. God is our greatest asset โ€“ heโ€™s around 24/7 and never leaves us โ€“ isnโ€™t that wonderful?!!

My struggle has always been God responding to me. I ask him questions, and tell him my deepest fears, yet, I donโ€™t hear him audibly. But, He did write a love letter to me and I have a bad habit of forgetting! His love letter is right in the Bible.

What is a Good Bible Verse for Loneliness?

Letโ€™s look at some verses and see what He has to say about feeling terribly lonely and abandoned. 

In john 14:18, God says โ€œI will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.โ€

In other words, this is how I should read itโ€ฆ

I will not leave Natalie comfortless, I will come directly to Natalie. 

Sounds more personal, right? Heโ€™s going to come right to me with comfort!

What Does the Bible Say About Depression and Loneliness? 

The Bible does talk about our feelings of depression and loneliness. There are scripture verses on how to handle these types of thoughts. Itโ€™s very simple, yet super hard to accomplish. 

We are to take these nasty, horrible thoughts that are too heavy for us to carry and give it to the Lord through prayer.

God promises that if we seek him, He will give us rest in anything we need a break from to relieve the stress and burdens.

Sarah was Lonely and Disappointed

Sarah, Abrahamโ€™s wife, was lonely without a child. While she becomes disappointed in her lack of child and takes it upon herself to have one, we find out eventually after many years of struggles, she decides to trust in the Lord to provide for her needs. 

Sarah had finally learned her lesson and built her faith in God. 

Hagar was Lonely and Isolated

Sarah became jealous and Hagar was bitter during the time of Hagarโ€™s pregnancy of Abrahamโ€™s baby Ishmael. She ran off after Sarahโ€™s scolding and felt very alone and isolated. Yet, God comforted her during this difficult time and told her she would be blessed and to go back to Sarah and Abrahamโ€™s home. 

Hagar was blessed with Ishmael who began an entire nation in the Arabic world. 

Miriam was Lonely and Quarantined

Mosesโ€™ sister Miriam was a prophetess who contracted leprosy when she sinned against the Lord. She and Aaron were speaking against Moses and questioning his leadership since he married an Ethiopian. 

In his humbleness, Moses asked the Lord to heal her. The Lord responded by saying she would be shut out of the camp for seven days and then she could come back to the community. 

It would be very lonely to be isolated from everyone within your family and the community. Yet, God was gracious and gave her 7 days of quarantine. 

Hannah was Lonely without a Child

In the scriptures, it tells us that Hannah was one of two wives. The other wife was able to conceive, but Hannah was barren. She was lonely without a child and pleaded with God, to dedicate her firstborn if He gave her a child. He answered her prayer and she conceived Samuel and other children.

Prayer for Loneliness Bible Verse
