7 Powerful Bible Verses about Faith

As a child, my disability seemed surmountable. I had all the faith in the world that God would see me through the most difficult times. As an adult, however, my Cerebral Palsy has gotten more complicated. Perhaps you can relate. We all go through times where the faith we once had drained out of us, and we are grasping for God in the strangest of places.
I can tell that my hard times are not just mine because the Bible gives us plenty to read about when we are struggling. One way that I know that God is speaking to me about my faith is when I see the number 111 on my clock or a license plate. The reference for 111, I am reminded is one of the most often quoted verses about faith:
Hebrews 11:1 KJV, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
Gratefully, these aren’t problems that need to stay around in our lives. God has given us His word which is a “sure anchor for our faith” (Hebrews 6:19 KJV). His word speaks to us in our distress, comforts us in our trouble, and breathes softly upon us when we need it the most. When I’m having hard days because of my disability, these verses about faith keep me steadfast and going strong.
So here are several Bible verses about Faith that can help you anchor into God when you are having distressing times as well.
Bible Verses about Faith in Hard Times
With a pandemic afoot, it is important that we realize that God is interested in making our faith strong. If our faith is weak, things in the world will shake us. They will cause us to lose our grip and hold on the Lord. But God says this testing of faith is not for nothing, but rather:
“Because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” James 1:3 KJV
Our perseverance is necessary for God to work in our lives and to build His kingdom in our hearts.
Bible Verses about Faith and Trust
Faith is such an exciting topic for me because it requires me to see beyond my present circumstances and trust that God is building something beautiful out of the ashes of my life.
“And without faith, it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” Hebrews 11:6 KJV
I know that my God rewards my efforts toward faith by growing me and maturing me into His image. I am grateful that faith and trust must be intertwined.
Bible Verses about Faith and Strength
All of that trust that we build with God as we grow in faith eventually comes in handy because we need the strength that faith provides for our lives.
“But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.” James 1:6 KJV
When we are emotionally tossed to and fro it is because our faith needs strengthening. God wants us stable for the storms of life so we can shine a light on Who He is.
Bible Verses about Faith and Love
Because God is interested in growing our strength and trust in the topic of faith, it is because He wants us to love others who have faith that is weaker than ours. He is looking for people who have the eyes of love to strengthen and help others in their times of distress. I am so grateful for the love of my friends when I was struggling through difficult times.
“Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters.” Rom. 14:1 KJV
When we choose to not quarrel but recognize the weak faith of others, God’s love can be perfected through us.
Bible Verses about Losing Faith in God
I have tremendous empathy for those who lose faith in God during their hard times. I have struggled with this as well. What helped me the most was surrounding myself with people who understood the power of our faith.
“For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.” I John 5:4 KJV
Find the people who have overcoming faith in God, and reach out to them. God will see you through even the hardest of difficulties.
Short Bible Verses about Faith
If your faith is wavering, if it feels like your relationship with God is hurting, then ask God for faith in your prayer life. I often quote the same prayer as the man with the epileptic son: ““I believe; help my unbelief!” Mark 9:24 KJV. This simple prayer builds my faith in God to do the impossible.
When your prayer life is strong, you can start to pray the same way Jesus did: full of faith and expectation that God heard him.
“If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” Matt. 21:22 KJV.
When God answers your prayer for faith, there is such a tremendous joy in knowing that He is making a way for us to know Him better. When God answers your prayer for faith, make sure to stay in a grateful and humble place. Don’t ever settle with the amount of faith that you have.
Let God build your faith for greater things, and begin to pray daring prayers that God wants to answer. Nothing is more satisfying to our faith than when God is creating in us a heart of faith for His promises. It is my faith in God that has allowed me to overcome the difficulties of Cerebral Palsy time and again, and I know that God will answer your heart’s cry for faith too.
